Lots of play under and by the bed last night. Then mom had to get some more ants and forgot to put the bridge back so we had to touch the floor to get places. That's okay because I found the vinegar and poked holes in it.

September 2 ·
We are sharing the washer today and have our jungle blanket. Aurora sure takes up a lot of room though.

September 3 ·
Aurora is still hogging the washer so I'm in the closet nest.

Giving Pua her supplements in cheese. She wanted me to back off and close the lid so she could eat in peace.

Mom rearranged the room again. Things are spooky now.

Mom: I moved the desk but put a board so you can still walk across.

Pua: It's creepy. I couldn't come down to wake you for treats.

Mom: I didn't mind that part but you'll get over it and start coming down again soon enough.

Pua: The tree is dangerous now

Mom: I just put Beaker's toy dispenser under it. It's the same height as the hamper and has a blanket on it, just like the hamper, which you didn't mind.

Pua: it might eat me.

Mom: Aurora didn't seem to mind. She climbed right up the steamer trunk and blankets.

Pua: She's an explorer. She's blind to the danger.

The begging tree is no longer scary and I walked across the board. Eventually I even made it down onto the bed but that is still a bit spooky.

Mom turned my bath area into a spa with a rock garden. I suspect there were practical reasons behind this but I'll enjoy it anyway. It looks uneven but vinegar was running towards the rocks so she did it this way and it pools in the middle more. I moved one of the small rocks to the middle of the vinegar pool.

I got to go for a walk today, yay. I was a bit confused to not be at the vet at first, then I was nervous and kept stopping with my foot up. But then I had a blast, a slow blast. We took it easy so my blood sugar wouldn't spike and to take it easy on my old hips. A lady and daughter walked by us on the trail and I didn't even mind. I walked and I explored and I found some termites in a log and eventually I did some short light jogging bursts. I didn't think I wanted to be done but I climbed right in once we got to the car and fell asleep right away under the dog bed. Mom carried me part way inside till I woke up and did the rest myself. I had a lot of grooming to do once I got home.

I've been sharing the washer with Aurora lately. Sometimes mom peaks in at us and says how cute we are then runs away, how rude, though compliments are nice.

September 15 ·
Aurora didn't get up till 5am last night. Even though I tried giving her a wake up call in her box. Still slept in. Do you want to become diurnal Aurora? Because that's how you become diurnal.

She gave me cooties in the washer so I had to get up and groom and have a vinegar bath. Mom tried pouring some warm water around my feet. "are you crazy? That's not how baths are done, mom" Off to the closet I go.

It's become a recent tradition to play with mom in the little hammock after I get up but mom was too slow last night so I met her on the catwalk and we played there and on the top of the cat tree for a bit to play and snuggle.

Snuggled with mom and played in the cage topper and dozed off holding her then later moved to the little hammock for more play and snuggles.

At one point in the night mom gave me ants. I didn't want them but when I walked by Aurora she was having ants so had to help her finish them before continuing on.

Pua loves vinegar baths. In the wild ants and termites would spit acid on them. It's good for the skin. Birds know this too so are known to roll on ant nests...

The service is lacking.

I heard noise in the other room so got up and mom gave me my supplement treat. But night before last mom didn’t change the blanket in the washer so I went in Aurora’s box with her. We played a lot then I dozed with her till I heard Beaker wake mom up. I came out and sat on the cat tree and chewed her out.

She went to change the blanket and I hurried over, had a snack then turned in. I’m glad things went more smoothly last night.

I had quite the adventure at the park today. We started across the bridge and I was galloping happily already. I've been getting my joint supplement twice a day and my hips felt so much better. A lady passed us on the bridge and was excited to see an anteater.

Once across the bridge we headed up the trail till I heard a mom and her kids and they had a doxie. I decided they may be assassins so turned around. A guy on a bike came up behind us and took some pictures and called his wife before going around. His wife was the one on the bridge earlier.

Well hearing his bike pass me I turned around again and headed back up the trail. We ran into that group again but mom held me put and said they'd not attack us. The kids did want to pet me but the mom told them to ask first. None of them did ask my mom but mom said I was nervous so their mom told them to admire me from afar.

All was going well after that then, at the second fork in the trail, a guy came up behind us on a bike and asked mom if it was okay to come around. She said yes. Well no one asked me and the bike was noisy so I stood up and showed my claws. Mom said my reflexes were too slow and he didn't get to see my claws. Too bad they are awesome claws. I coulda poked holes in his tires if he messed with me.

I decided it was too peopley after that so turned around. On the walk back I remembered my hallow tree with it's big hallow tree burl and went to explore that. That was tons of fun but mom didn't let me nap in there like I wanted too.

After I was pulled out I decided it was a good time to continue my walk so went up the trail again. We came to the second fork in the trail and I was going to go on but mom asked me if I really wanted to do the whole thing today. I thought about it then took the short cut trail to the other trail heading back.

Mom was right. I started to get tired and let her lead me. One more bike passed us then on the bridge across mom picked me up as a boy and his rottweiler passed us. Finally at the end of the bridge were some remote controlled off road cars. They sounded scary so I wanted to run away but mom offered me my bag and I felt safe in there as we passed. I stayed in there till mom sat me down by my washer and then went to the closet to sleep.

I got up late last night but I still had to have my cuddle and play time with mom in the little hammock.
September 28 ·
Decided to sleep with Aurora in her box. It's a bit snug but it's nice and warm.

Hearing lots of jostling around in the box. Someone keeps farting. Wishing I could see in the box instead of smell ~ Pua's mommy

Aurora has her period. Just a friendly reminder that having anteaters as house pets can sometimes be a bit gross.

Now a cute photo of them snuggled in the washer. Aurora was hiding under her blanket but I called her name and she looked so I gave them some blue cheese to share.
