Sniffing the tree

Sniffing the treeShe went up that far them came back down though fell on her butt. Then she climbed back up and we got the video version.

Pua nearly escapes!

Could have edited it but, eh. Consider it a warning. A few mistakes, her tail was slippery from the mud, I didn't drop the camera the second her tail slipped, and her harness was too lose. Still the chest part of the harness acts like a belt so was still a good safety measure in place. She also did not get out of reach and I was able to pull her off the tree.

Took years to get to the point she gets to do as much as she does. At first she didn't get off the trails. Just wasn't quite careful enough this time.

Okay, I'm ready to go

Okay, I'm ready to go A couple came up the trail the other way while Pua was just sitting hanging out at the open end of her burrow here. They asked if she was an aardvark. No, an anteater. They asked if they could get a photo of her, sure. Took her out but she crawled out of my arms and down my back. She does not like her walks disturbed, even though she was just sitting there before being disturbed. But she tried to walk back on the path and they were standing there. She stopped and looked up at the guy there, like; "dude you're in the way". Then she turned and headed on. So she looked more friendly than she really is. She's not shy or antisocial, she just doesn't care about you.

Tamale Pie - for mother's day

Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground beef
1 cup chopped onion, one small onion
1 large green bell pepper, chopped
1 large can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
4 large tomatoes, cut up
1/3 whole kernel corn, frozen
1 small can (5 ounces) ripe olives, break up whole olives or buy sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder
dash black pepper
1 cup grated Cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
.
Crust:
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
2 cups fluid(explained in instructions)
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1/2 cup grated Cheddar or Mexican blend cheese, for topping (optional)

Preparation:
Brown ground beef with onions and green pepper; drain well, save fluid. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, corn, olives(drain and save fluid from olive can), garlic, sugar, salt, chili powder and black pepper. Heat to boiling; reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for about 10-15 minutes. Drain fluid and save. Continue simmering low while crust is cooked.

In a saucepan, combine cornmeal, salt, chili powder, and add fluid(include olive water from can, if salt is an issue use water to make up the difference if you don't have 2 cups fluid), once warm add butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until tacky or like a dough. Spread abput a 1/3 to a half of the mixture into a baking dish, about 12- x 8-inches. Drain filling one more time and save to add to something else later. Spoon filling over bottom crust; cover with remaining cheese, spoon remaining cornmeal mixture over filling. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes. I placed pan on cookie sheet because it looked like it might boil over and it did a bit.

Serves 6.
